Flash Mobs brings soul to cities

Flash Mobs has been around for a while and are now starting to change form. From being a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public space we start to see examples on how the excitement searching city dweller join forces with similar persons in longer and more coordinated city games. City games that uses the public spaces to interact and forming the soul of the city.

Gaming in the city has come to stay for a longer time, that’s for sure. See one of the larger flash mobs in New York here.

New Urbanism – the way back!

At a recent seminar held by Bofrämjandet, Peter Elmlund, project manager at Urban City Research at KTH, gave insights to how new urbanism is gaining more and more grounds in city development. New Urbanism is an urban design movement which promotes walkable neighborhoods containing a range of housing and job types. One of the most important aspects of New Urbanism i the importance of the Public Space. By improving the public space, the value of the gound and facilities around that public space increases more than the developing cost.
